Lynn Montag, CPA, is a partner at Sasserath & Co., a boutique CPA firm with offices in Ronkonkoma and New York City.
With more than 25 years of public accounting experience and a focus on tax and accounting issues, Montag is an accounting professional and trusted advisor for business clients, not only handling a large part of Sasserath & Co.’s corporate and individual tax practice but also helping clients prepare for the continued success of their businesses.
Montag also advises clients on a variety of business issues. She focuses on clients in diverse industries including professional practices, technology firms and distribution and manufacturing companies.
Montag began her career in the audit department of Coopers & Lybrand, now PwC. She left after several years to join a distribution firm as comptroller, but eventually realized that public accounting was where she could be of most service to clients. In 2002, she joined Sasserath & Co. in its early days as a startup accounting firm with a focus on sophisticated business clients. Since then, Montag has been an integral part of the firm’s growth, devoting her career to the companies that make Long Island and New York City such vibrant places to do business. Her public accounting work is complemented by her private sector experience.
The current economic environment and large jump in interest rates over this past year have significantly impacted businesses’ cash flow, Montag said.
“Higher interest rates have increased the cost of borrowing for businesses, making it more expensive to access capital for growth, expansion, or even day-to-day operations,” she said. “This limited access to affordable credit has further strained cash flow as businesses struggle to meet their financial obligations, such as paying suppliers, employees, and servicing existing debt.”

Montag earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from State University of New York at Albany. She is a Certified Public Accountant and designated as a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor. She is a member of New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
