With over 30 years of experience in both public accounting and private roles, John McClung has a deep understanding of how to efficiently and effectively service clients, having the perspective from “both sides of the fence.” John’s broad experience makes him a go-to resource for clients on the critical everyday issues that make their businesses tick, including GAAP, financial statement preparation, income tax, payroll tax, and general accounting. His well-rounded perspective in today’s accounting world makes him uniquely suited to advise clients of Sasserath & Co. on the issues impacting their businesses.

John launched his career at a well-known regional mid-sized accounting firm before moving into private accounting a decade later as a Controller at what was then Long Island’s largest printing paper distributor, Graphic Paper, Inc. Upon the successful sale of the business to an international conglomerate 20 years later, John transitioned back into public accounting, knowing that his Controller experience would make him an asset to corporate clients. He has firsthand experience dealing with the pressures of managing cash flow, reducing credit losses, meeting payroll, managing debt, and cutting costs to stay competitive, and puts that perspective to work every day for our clients.

At Sasserath & Co., in addition to providing accounting services, John serves on the Leadership Team and the Volunteer Committee seeking out volunteer opportunities for the firm. A technology enthusiast, John also leads the firm’s IT initiatives, working to make clients’ accounting functions more efficient and secure and keeping the firm’s security defenses at the highest level.
